Nella Webster O’Grady hosted a VIP reception in her Newport Coast home for around 100 guests earlier this month to introduce the three outstanding business women who will be honored at the National Association of Women Business Owners (OC Chapter) 2014 Remarkable Women Awards Gala on Oct. 16.

The three business women are Jeannie Lawrence, a Newport Beach resident and the founder and president of Rancho Las Lomas (Lifetime Achievement); Linda Kang, founder and president of KoreL Design Tiles (Business Owner of the Year); and Mahyar Ghassemian, founder and CEO of Ghassemian Law Group, APC (Entrepreneur to Watch).

“The Remarkable Women event means a lot to me,” said O’Grady. “Last year, I was honored by one of the affiliates, so when they asked if I would host a reception this year, I thought it was the least I could do. Being a woman business owner (she and her husband Kevin own Palo Capital), it’s nice to give back, and it’s a great way to say thank you to the women who have made a difference and have been under the radar.”

The 2014 Remarkable Women Awards will be held Thursday, Oct. 16 at the Irvine Marriott. More than 600 people are expected to attend the event.

“The gala is a lot of work, but I have a tremendous committee, we’re having a good time putting it on,” said Gala Chair and President Elect Penny Fox. “The OC Chapter of NAWBO is one of the largest in the country. We have been around for about 30 years. This is our 19th Remarkable Women event. We are a lot more than just business owners networking. We have a mentoring program, educational programs—it’s a fantastic organization. And this gala is going to be mind-blowing.”

Ticket prices are $90 to $100 with tables starting at $900. Tickets can be purchased at nawbo-oc.org or by calling 714-630-2983.

Proceeds from the Remarkable Women Awards help support NAWBO-OC initiatives.
