On Saturday, Sept. 11, the Newport Harbor Elks Lodge will host its annual Western Roundup, the lodge’s largest fundraising event of the year.  Last year’s Roundup helped raise more than $19,000 toward the California-Hawaii Elks Major Project, Inc.

Through this event and other efforts, one of those helped is our 2010 Theme Child, Alexis Booth.  When Alexis was just one month old, she began suffering from paralysis on the left side of her body.  Alex was later diagnosed with cysts growing in her brain stem and cervical spine.  Beginning at one year of age, the Elks have been an integral part in her care and development; just recently giving Alexis a four year scholarship.

This year’s event will be an exciting time as it falls within National Patriotism Week, beginning September 6, 2010.  In special recognition, we have set up our Western Roundup event to culminate a September 11th tribute to Americanism. Americanism again being the theme for the unveiling of a specially designed postal box to be utilized by Newport residents to properly retire American Flags.

Starting at 4:00 p.m., there will be outdoor entertainment along with games, prizes, raffles and a silent auction.  At 5:00 p.m., there will be a tribute to lives lost on September 11th, along with recognizing our past and present military.  In the evening, the party moves inside the lodge for a lavish dinner, more live entertainment, and a Las Vegas style casino upstairs.

There are many worthy causes you can show your support; we ask you to please take some time to consider what an impact you can have on the life of a miracle.  The Elks’ ability to continue helping children like Alexis directly depends on your involvement either by attending the event, volunteering your time or donating a prize.

Advance tickets are available at $25 each. Please contact Missy Lott at [email protected]
