Dr. Fariborz Maseeh, founder and managing principal of the investment management firm Picoco LLC, has been named a 2011 Distinguished Engineering Graduate (DEG) of the Cockrell School of Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.

Established in 1957, the award is the highest honor the Cockrell School bestows on alumni.

Maseeh, who earned his master’s of science degree in civil engineering from the Cockrell School, is among six alumni who will receive the 2011 DEG award during a luncheon and Cockrell School of Engineering Commencement ceremony today in Austin.

Maseeh was founder and chief executive officer of IntelliSense, a company where he successfully created the first custom design, development and manufacturing operation of micro-electro mechanical systems (MEMS) devices.

More recently, Maseeh is the founder and president of The Massiah Foundation, a charitable organization that makes transformational investments for broad public benefit.
