Newport-Mesa Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Frederick Navarro has announced administrative appointments for the 2013/14 school year.

Beginning August, 2013, Stacy de Boom-Howard will transition from Principal of Paularino Elementary School to the role of Principal on Special Assignment supporting the implementation of the Common Core State Standards for Newport-Mesa Unified School District.

In a letter to staff and parents, Mrs. de Boom-Howard said, “It has been a wonderful experience being the Principal at Paularino and working with such an outstanding group of students, parents, teachers, and staff. This is such a terrific school community and I will treasure the friendships and memories that I have made!”

The principal vacancy at Paularino will be filled by Dr. Amy Nagy, former Principal of Newport Elementary School.

In administrative moves previously announced in June, Dr. Rich Rodriguez was transferred from TeWinkle Middle School to Newport Elementary School for the 2013/14 school year.

Due to administrative changes that were yet to be determined, Dr. Nagy was not immediately assigned.

Dr. Nagy is a strong, instructional leader and the District believes she will continue to carry forward the great work that is already in progress at Paularino Elementary School, and work to create new opportunities for student achievement and parent engagement.

Dr. Nagy will assume the role of Principal of Paularino Elementary School beginning August 1, 2013.

There is also a recruitment process for a new principal at Corona del Mar High School. The district hopes to have a new principal in place for the start of the 2013/2014 school year.
