Once in a blue moon, there is a blood moon. September 27 was the rare day when the moon was at its closes point to the earth and the moon is at its largest and brightest (a supermoon) and there was a total lunar eclipse (when the moon is completely in the earth’s shadow). This produces a glowing orange moon which was visible all over Orange County.
