Last week, shoppers at South Coast Plaza came out early to celebrate the launch of the Angelitos Card to benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County.

The seven boutiques that participated in the Launch Party of the Angelitos Card were Assouline, Bottega Veneta, Fendi, Henri Bendel, J.Crew, Madewelland Salvatore Ferragamo.

On the day of the launch party, these seven boutiques offered a 20% savings on purchases, which was a day before these saving were available to the general public.  These select boutiques were also donating 10% of the proceeds to Angelitos de Oro, the ladies auxiliary of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County.

Tim Crosson, a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, stated, “We are so grateful to Angelitos de Oro and all of the South Coast Plaza stores that support the Angelitos Card . … Funds raised through the Anglitos Card program are critical for Big Brothers Big Sisters to continue to provide life-changing mentoring programs with proven impact to at-risk youth in our community.”

Pame Schmider  chaired the Launch Party and Beth Bidna and Diana Lorenzi are the co-chairs of the 2011 Angelitos Card.

The funds raised from the boutique’s donations and from the sale of Angelitos Cards go to support the High School Bigs program of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County.  This program creates supportive, one-to-one relationships among youth and mentors. The mentors in this program are high school students who live close to the elementary schools where the program takes place. The program reaches a group of children in the county who are at high risk of educational, social, emotional and behavioral difficulties but might not have access to traditional programs for the support they need.

Since its inception in 1961, Angelitos de Oro has donated more than $4.3 million from its fundraising efforts to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County. For more information about Angelitos de Oro visit angelitosdeoro.org.
