wild gooseWild Goose Tavern recently celebrated its two-year anniversary by holding a fundraising party that netted $22,110 for Newport Beach-based We Are Ocean, a non-profit charity dedicated to reinvigorating and enriching the lives of cancer patients and survivors.

In addition to 100 percent of the proceeds raised from a silent auction and raffle, Wild Goose donated 20 percent of the overall event sales.

Silent auction items included adventure filled weekend getaways and staycations, yachting, local resort pampering, dining, and shopping sprees.

“We always look forward to a good celebration, but being able to give back to the community and specifically by supporting organizations like We Are Ocean is what gives the event significance and a true purpose,” said Wild Goose co-owner, Mario Marovic. “Knowing the money generated from the anniversary will provide life changing experiences for these cancer survivors is immeasurable.”

The total amount raised was over twice the sum generated from the prior fundraiser Wild Goose hosted for We Are Ocean, coming close to its target goal of $30,000, the amount needed to cover the patient and operating costs of a recovery camp on Catalina Island.

“It was amazing to see a community come together as a whole and help its struggling members in need. Together, as a community, we are fighting back against this horrible disease,” said We Are Ocean founder Jack Marshall Shimko.

Since opening its doors in 2012, Wild Goose Tavern has hosted numerous charitable fundraisers in support of the community. In addition to We Are Ocean, Wild Goose Tavern has made sizeable donations to Hoag Hospital Foundation, John Wayne Cancer Foundation, and several other local non-profits. To date, Wild Goose Tavern has helped raise over $75,000 in total charitable contributions.
