After a nearly year-long search, the board of directors at Mariners Christian School has named Bob Sladek as the new Head of School.

Sladek takes over for Chief Financial Officer Todd Perkins, who led the campus during the 2009-2010 year.

“I’m am honored to be chosen as head of school for such a well-respected and distinguished institution as MCS,” Sladek said. “Throughout my education career, I have remain committed to a Christ-centered education that enables all students to achieve their God-given potential in a loving and nurturing academic setting.”

Sladek was formerly the principal at Mission Hills Christian School in Rancho Santa Margarita and served as associate pastor at Mission Hills Community Church in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Sladek received his bachelor of arts degree from Vanguard University and his master of arts in education from Oral Roberts University. He has spent the past 15 years in Christian education, serving in various roles from football coach to Bible teacher, as well as vice principal and principal.

He says his passion is training young people and families in the ways of God, having served as a pastor for children, youth, and young adults.

He has worked routinely in the field of accreditation, especially throughout Asia, where he has been an ambassador for Christian education.

He loves sports – playing, coaching, and all things Chicago. He and his wife, Lishar, have two children Olivia, 18, and Noah, 13.
