Police responded to a variety of calls around Newport Beach this week. 


• A suspicious person was reported in the 200 block of Mayflower Dr., at 3:37 p.m. on Thursday. Police were unable to locate the suspect.

• Illegal parking was reported in the 300 block of Onyx Ave., at 7:32 on Wednesday. Police issued a citation.

• A disturbance was reported near the Newport Pier, at 10:23 p.m. on Tuesday. Police checked and cleared the area. No further assistance was needed.

• Grand theft was reported in the 200 block of W. Coast Hwy., at 8:43 a.m. on Monday. A police report was filed.



• A 29-year old male was arrested in the 2000 block of E. Balboa Blvd., on Monday for 422(A) threats of violence. Unknown bail.

• A 23-year-old male was arrested in the first block of Rim Ridge, Saturday for 148(A)(1) resist/obstruct/delay peace officer, 243(C)(2) battery with injury on a peace officer, 594(A)(3) vandalism-destroy property, and 647(F) intoxicated in public. He posted an unknown bail and was released on Sunday.
