Construction Delays

The westbound section of East Pacific Coast Highway between Goldenrod Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard in Corona del Mar will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday and ending Friday.

These westbound lane closures are necessary to enable a contractor working for the city of Newport Beach  to install a new water main under the roadway, according to an announcement from the city.

Construction activity and the lane closures will only affect westbound East Pacific Coast Highway traffic (vehicles traveling from Laguna Beach toward Huntington Beach). The eastbound lanes along this section of the highway will remain open to traffic at all times.

The westbound lane closures may create traffic delays along neighboring streets such as Goldenrod Ave. and MacArthur Blvd.  Local traffic may still move through Corona del Mar along westbound East Coast Highway to Goldenrod Avenue. Traffic detour routes will include Newport Coast Drive and Marguerite Avenue to San Joaquin Hills Road

Motorists should avoid the immediate area, using alternate routes such as San Joaquin Hills Road or Route 73. The westbound lanes on East Coast Highway will be open during the weekend.
