The 8th annual Blackie’s Halloween costume surf contest drew boarders of all ages to the area north of the Newport Pier on Saturday. Perfect 75-degree weather, blue skies and a gentle breeze provided an idyllic setting for the event. Surfers and paddleboarders in creative costumes ranging from cartoon characters to political icons to monster motifs showed their stuff to hundreds of amused spectators.
