Fundraiser Will Benefit CHOC Patients

A new, local charity will hold a Moroccan themed party next month to raise funds for an event for some special little girls at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.

Just a Little Cloth will hold the exotic and festive adults-only party at Wild Strawberry Café near Fashion Island from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 22. The proceeds will go toward a Just a Little Cloth event scheduled for young girls on the CHOC oncology floor later this year.

Just a Little Cloth, a Newport Beach non-profit dreamed up by two local 9-year-old girls and founded by their mothers, provides new, formal dresses to underprivileged girls, young girls fighting cancer or other serious illnesses, and other girls in need.

“Our goal is to help girls in need feel good about themselves on the inside and out,” said Tiffany Antoci, one of the mothers and co-founders of the charity.

At the Moroccan party, supporters will be able to purchase a gift basket that will be donated to the CHOC girls. Donors will also be write a note to one of the girls. There will also be a silent auction.

The event will also include a belly dancer, live music, entertainment and performers. Miss California will also be on hand to speak about girls and beauty.

There will also be a show by a surprise world-renowned performer. Elizabeth Charles fashion boutique will also be holding a fashion show.

Wild Strawberry Café will also cater the event, with appetizers, drinks and dessert. Suziecakes will be donating cupcakes.

“It will be a night of wonderful food and entertainment,” said Just a Little Cloth co-founder Sarah Besikof. “It’s for a great cause for a local Newport Beach charity and held at a wonderful local café.”

The location will be totally transformed, said Wild Strawberry Café owner Natasha Kazic, it will be enclosed like a Moroccan tent. BTB Event Productions will be donating furniture and décor.

“It’s going to be a really interesting evening,” Kazic said. “The whole thing will be a blast.”

From Sept. 10 through 15, the week prior to the event, the Elizabeth Charles boutique on Westcliff Drive will also donate 20 percent of sales from customers who mention Just a Little Cloth to the cause.

The Moroccan party will will raising funds to pay for a CHOC tea party event, which is tentatively scheduled for October or November. The CHOC Oncology floor’s playroom will be transformed into a princess palace for a royal tea party, Antoci said,  so they can feel special for at least one day while they are going through their treatments.

Tickets can be pre-ordered at the Wild Strawberry Café or on their website for $25, or $40 at the door. Cocktail attire suggested.
